Abstract
This semester project was an interactive installation that strives to educate the participants of the life of a dragonfly larva, and how they are negatively affected by outside factors such as climate change or pollution.
The project was developed using theories of mixed reality space, narrative theory and an underlying theory of fatalism, as well as being inspired by the UN's world goal number 15.5. In preparation for the making of the project, some design methods were researched and used. These methods include moodboards, sketching, double diamond and SWOT analysis. Along with research on works from other artists, working with interactive installations with a theme of connecting humans to nature, including sea of life by teamLab and the treachery of sanctuary by Chris Milk.
The project was evaluated by utilizing observation studies during the exhibition, along with a questionnaire given to the participants after their experience with our installation. This evaluation focuses on how much the participants already knew about dragonfly larva, along with what they learned while participating in our experience.
The project is called metamorphosis which refers to the action of changing one's form from one to another, like a butterfly in molt or a tadpole which turns into a frog. This project refers it to the dragonfly larva that eventually transforms into a beautiful dragonfly, as well as the transformation in the environment.
